Transition to CAAS GVS V4.0 – Registration Process and Next Steps

CAAS Ground Vehicle Standard Announcement

FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION – ALL FSAMs AND REMOUNTERS

The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) is pleased to announce that Ground Vehicle Standard (GVS) V4.0 is now officially in effect as of today, July 1, 2025.

CAAS GVS V4.0 represents a significant advancement in ensuring the highest level of safety, compliance, and reliability for ambulances nationwide. Key updates include clearer vehicle dimension standards, enhanced battery conditioning and electrical system requirements, and updated structural and safety features aligned with the latest SAE and AMD test standards. These refinements will help you deliver vehicles that continue to meet the evolving demands of modern EMS operations and reinforce your commitment to the CAAS “Gold Standard” of quality.

What You Need to Do – Transition Process

To maintain your standing as a Registered FSAM or Remounter and to continue verifying the vehicles you build or remount under GVS V4.0, please follow these required steps:

1. Download CAAS GVS V4.0 and a helpful Crosswalk document

2. Complete Your New FSAM or Remounter V4.0 Registration Form

A new Registration Form is required for all FSAMs and Remounters — no exceptions. If your organization is both a FSAM and a Remounter, you must complete both registration forms.

Please take note of the requirement on the second page of the registration form regarding verification of certifications required by the GVS standard.

Please fill out the form(s) completely and submit it via email to gvsadmin@Groundvehiclestandard.org or mail it directly to CAAS Headquarters (address below).

3. Watch for Your Approval Email & Pay the Registration Fee

After your Registration Form is reviewed and approved, you will receive an email from CAAS confirming your approval. This email will contain a link to pay the GVS V4.0 Registration Fee ($1,000). This fee is required before you can order new GVS V4.0 sticker packages. If your organization has previously paid the Registration fee for V3.0, you will be provided a discount code to apply against the V4.0 Registration fee.

4. Return Any Unused V3.0 Stickers for Credit

If you have unused FSAM or Remounter stickers from Version 3.0, you may return them to CAAS Headquarters to receive credit towards your V4.0 sticker purchase.

Please mail only the unused stickers back to CAAS. Once we receive them, you will be issued a discount code for $10 off each sticker returned — to be applied to your V4.0 sticker order.
